Erasmus
Student Network

Founded in 1989, Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is a non-profit international student organisation and the biggest student association in Europe. Its main mission is to represent international students, thus provide opportunities for cultural understanding and self-development under the principle of Students Helping Students. In 2017, more than 525 local association in 40 countries are taking part in the network.

ESN is now in France in 33 cities through 36 associations and 15 000 volunteers. ESN France has two primary goals : to promote the international mobility for the french youth & to welcome international students and permit them an integration in the local community.

In that way, a team of volunteer from Lille has created in June 2015 a web platform named BuddySystem, in order to allow an international student to find her/his ideal "buddy". Therefore, the local student could provide to the international student a personalized welcome and be her/his privileged contact person. The local student could also help before and during is mobility on many issues : to accompany in the administrative process, to show around town, work/study place, to share languages and culture.
